The land is farmed with natural fertiliser, therefore the silk is toxic free. The cocoons used are rejected from the mainstream silk industry, so there is no waste. They are rejects because the main silk industry uses machinery and the cocoons are often not the right size or weight for the machines to be able to process, Mumo's factories uses people not machines so this is avoided. The factory is located in Maringa Town Brazil, and exists to help the local community of a nearby shanty town- favela- where it employs women from. This Silk cushion looks fantastic and is socially and ethically responsible at the same time. It is available in copper, black/navy and cream colours and square and rectangular shapes. The Spiky Rug is available to purchase online and in store in 4 colours. The rug is hand sewn with dyed chamois polyester fabric. The fabric is carefully stitched into spike shapes which are filled with hollow fibre. The 'spikes' are then sewn onto a durable non slip backing. Due to the hand dyed nature of chamois fabric, you will experience some colour variation throughout the piece, making every rug unique. Care tips: spot clean with mild detergent or dry clean only. Do not brush or rub. Should you choose to use a vacuum cleaner, please use fine nozzle attachments and clean between ‘spikes' with care. This rug is designed for light use only. New rugs will last longer if shaken and rotated on a regular basis. If you wish, you may choose to collect your item from either your nearest local store or collection point.
